Jack is the Founder of Faer Risk Consulting LLC, a consulting firm focused on risk mitigation and security. Jack shows individuals how to manage their personal risks by developing a trusted and pragmatic approach that fits clients’ risk tolerance. It is a unique offering of security, risk management and financial expertise that enables clients to understand how one risk impacts another. He is excited to provide services to people of all levels of sophistication at affordable rates. It is his way of helping people learn how to be more disciplined in understanding and managing risk. He has a commitment to be available to clients when unforeseen events occur and deliver high quality solutions, with a reputation for ethics and integrity. He strives to help people protect what they have and optimize what they want.
In his most recent organizational role as Chief Risk & Security Officer at Iron Mountain, Jack had primary responsibility for all safety, security, risk management, and governance programs. Working closely with the Chairman of the Risk and Safety Committee of the Board of Directors, Jack regularly presented to the full Board of Directors on the key risks facing the organization. Jack held senior roles at Fidelity Investments, including Chief Security Officer, SVP of Risk & Compliance and Head of Risk & Audit for the international business. He was SVP of Operational Risk for SSgA and a Deloitte consultant. Jack was an FBI agent, specializing in white collar crime investigations and maintains an extensive risk, security and law enforcement network.
Jack also works with executives and companies on a range of issues including Security Strategy, Enterprise Risk Management, Crisis Management and Response Capability, Employee Training on Compliance and Regulations, and Corporate Governance. He helps implement or refine security and risk management programs.
Jack’s global experience included three years as an expat in leadership roles in the UK and Luxembourg and throughout his career, led global staffs in audit, risk management and security. He has traveled extensively overseas and managed crises that resulted in threat to and loss of life in locations outside of the US.
He has been a speaker at multiple Risky Business conferences on risk management principles from a corporate and law enforcement perspective. Trained as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Jack received his MBA in Finance and held several FINRA and other licenses, including a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has been qualified as an expert witness in forensic accounting in state and federal court.
In 2017, Jack was recognized by Insurance Business Magazine as a leading risk manager. He was also honored by Security Magazine’s as “Most Influential in Security.”
In addition to his executive career, Jack served on the National Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association, and was Chair of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Executive and Nominating and Governance committees. Jack was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. In addition, he has been an Adjunct Professor, teaching accounting, finance, and organizational development courses. Jack is a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Leadership Fellow, designating advanced training in the appropriate functioning of Boards and the role of Directors.
In addition to fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association, Jack has raised over $300,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute through his long-time participation in the Pan Massachusetts Challenge, two-day, 192-mile bicycle ride. The event has raised in excess of $700 million in the first 40 years of its existence.
